New Competition – Win £200 M&S Vouchers! Just tell us your Grand Plan for your retirement.

banner-oleg-life

Only yesterday, I was reading a very powerful piece from an old O! magazine (thank you Keris!) talking about the whooshing speed that time passes (if you’re interested, it’s by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and you can read it here. You SHOULD read it, it’s wonderful). Do you ever get that mild panicky feeling that you need time to wait, hold on a minute… just STOP! That sometimes you just want to be right here for a little longer before life moves on again?

Yes, me too.

But as well as holding on to the present, I also excitedly anticipate my future. OUR future. The husband and I often stay up far too late, making plans and plotting adventures. Telling each other how it’s going to be. Let me tell you now, our retirement is going to be simply brilliant. We have our future house all set up, our travel plans sorted… we’ve filled our lazy hazy future days with a lot of fun, family and a positively giddy amount of Happy. The thought of growing old together just makes me feel peaceful, way down deep inside.

CompareTheMarketlogo1

So we’ve joined forces with Compare The Market to find out what you’re plotting for your own Golden Years. Because of course, none of the magic is going to happen without a little forethought and a lot of planning. Life Insurance is one of those dull, grown up things that sadly seems to become more important to think about as the years go by (if you’re looking, just make sure you shop around and compare, because not all policies are created equal. You can click here to try comparethemarket).

To be in with a chance to win £200 M&S Vouchers, please answer the first three questions in the Rafflecopter box below. You will then be able to generate more entries by completing the other, optional, entry methods. The closing date for this competition is 20th April 2014 and only entries received on or before that date can be included. The 1st prize winner will be the first randomly selected entry.  Good luck!

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.

I also want to buy a camper van with my savings. I’ve already got grown up teenagers so 20 years from now I hope they will be happy and comfortable to be able to leave to their isn devices whilst I revert to childhood!

  68. We’ve made the decision to live relatively frugally (or at the very least sensibly) now, and save for our retirement and make sure we’ll be mortgage-free by then. Our plan is to visit all the amazing places we’ve got on our ‘bucket’ list before we get too old! Everytime we see something we really want to see or do, we pop it on the list. So once the children have flown the nest,we hope to be able to have the health, and money to be able to work our way through the list! :)

My better half has always wanted alpacas and llamas too so he’d get a few of those. As animal husbandry can be time-consuming that would be our retirement hours easily filled! I’d spend any spare time reading all the books I want to read before I die! Fingers crossed hoping for a little bit of luck to come my way now.

  669. I don’t plan to retire. I’m lucky enough to work for myself doing a job I love. I wouldn’t give it up unless something terrible happened. My mother in law is 70 in december and still works. I will slow down and spend more time in the garden and with grandchildren I suspect but that will be it.
