It’s #FixItFriday – and your challenge this weekend is to freshen up the bedroom furniture!

Freshen up the bedroom – often it’s a task that we think is all about the actual decor. You can lose the 1980’s wallpaper, take the yucky old carpet up and have some delicious stripped boards and a lovely soft rug under your toes… and your old bedroom furniture might suddenly revive and gain a new lease of life. But more often than not, against all that lovely fresh newness they’ll look tired, dated and mildly gloomy every time you open the wardrobe door.

Sometimes, if you have some quality furniture then a lick of paint (or a removal of paint) is all they need, of course; but if you’re still managing with the 15yr-old hand-me-down wardrobe from Aunt Doris  that was only a make-do flatpack when she bought it… maybe it’s time for a change.
Time to treat yourself to something a little more grown up in that lovely new bedroom – or to spruce up a tired space with a bright and bold item that will cheer you every time you look at it.

Maybe some bold new fitted sliding wardrobes are the answer to your storage problems – I particularly love these orange stripy mirrored doors…

I spotted these at Lamco Design – and love their brilliant outright cheerfulness!

But if you’re looking for a simpler option of freestanding rather then bespoke fitted extravagance, then the high street has plenty of options for you…

The Heart of House Avignon 3 Door Mirrored Wardrobe is £500 from Homebase

This Heart of House Avignon 3 Door Mirrored Wardrobe in classic pure white won’t overwhelm any room – despite being big enough to hold a HUGE shoe collection. Plus, there’s the bonus of it reminding me – for no good reason – of the wardrobe in Disney’s Beauty & The Beast…

Love the simplicity of Habitat’s Tastuma range – £495

Or you can keep it clean and simple with the Habitat Tatsuma 2 Door Wardrobe with a solid ash base and elegant tapered legs. There’s a whole range of bedroom furniture to match, but each piece stands up individually too.

Once you have decided on the finished look you’re after, the bedroom furniture will make or break your room. Take your time, brows the shops – and don’t dismiss the High Street stores, they offer some fabulous quality and design as affordable solutions.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
