Spotted! Bawbags! *grin*

LOVE these – just fantastic!

And not only these – the whole Bawbags range is a stroke of genius in underwear design.

And by buying them you’re supporting Everyman, the UK’s leading prostate and testicular cancer campaign.

Get yer Bawbags (and bawbags for Birds too) for ages 10+ from our pals at the Wee Gooseberry for £10 berzackly.

Magnetic Poetry for children (and me… *cough*)

I admit it.

I find a very simple pleasure and a huge amount of fun in re-arranging words on the fridge to make silly, rude or ridiculous sentences. Thankfully, I have a family if similarly easily-amused minds, so a trip to the kitchen is never complete without a quick glance to see what someone has created (or said about their brother’s bottom).

This tin form the Literary Gift Company is excellent for children to use – mixing the useful little words like ‘get’ and ‘up’ (a message for the teen in its own right) with far more fun options like ‘dinosaur’ and ‘imagine’.

Every home should have a set!

Available for a cow under £14 from the addictively-marvellous Literary Gift Company

Spotted! Gorgeous Tractor Hot Water Bottle!

Brilliant.

Just.. brilliant.

We know just how much you love a good hottie – but good ones for the boys are surprisingly rare. This one is a bit genius though, and will keep anyone warm and snugged on a chilly day.

Farmyard hot water bottle £13 from Snugg nightwear (there’s a great boat one too)

Spotted! Personalised Mugs. Good Ones.

This is a bit more than a Spotted! item. Sometimes we come across a product that we just happen to love – so we talk about them. I’ve used YourDesign a number of times, and they are unfailingly excellent. The above mug is the (rather ridiculous) one I bought for Fathers day a couple of years ago – and it is still in use every single day.
Father Christmas bought one for No.1 son this Christmas – he’s far too big for his Mr Man mug now, and needed a grown up sized version. What better than one with his favourite “I’m Special” scrawled across it?
Because it’s not just about slapping a photo on one side – you can choose a ‘full wrap’, as I have above to fit The Four onto it, or you can just write something rude personal.

The mugs themselves are good quality, the printing is excellent (the dishwasher will cause fading over time though) and for £8 they are truly BARGAINOUS.

Personalised mugs start at £8 from YourDesign.

LOVE these! Just like a bundle of retro badges, but talk about handy – just swoosh the ones you need up to the tip of the fridge so everyone knows what we need when they pop to the shop.

Spotted! Tiny Tulips – TOP snug & warm slippers for babies and toddlers!

Aren’t these brilliant? JUST the thing for small chilly toes. Handmade in the UK from soft stretchy fabrics (which make them easy to put on and the “sock” part makes it very difficult for babies to kick them off!), they will keep babies  and toddlers feet totally cosy and warm.

The baby sizes ( 3 and 6 months) are all fabric (and machine washable), and the bigger  12, 18, and 24 months have a leather sole.

Bestest Christmas Gift Guide – a great smartphone for luddites (and teens), theVodafone 858 Smart. *sigh*

The biggest boy of mine – 12 now – has been *yearning* for an iPhone since he started High School. *YEARNS* for one, he does.

Dream on, kiddo.

But Christmas approaches, and his list looks something like this:

iPhone

iPhone

iPhone

iPhone

iPod

iPhone

I sensed that something must be done. Which is where those nice people at Vodafone stepped in, and sent him one of these babies to try out (not to keep, mind. they’re not THAT daft). The Vodafone 858 Smart. Cute huh?

What did the iPhone-aholic think of it? Well, I’m not sure, actually, because apart form a quick breathy “ohhh, COOL phone!” it was whisked off behind a bedroom door, not to reappear for ages.

By which time it was all App-ed up, personalised, filled with music, and tucked into the back pocket of a saggy pair of jeans *eyeroll*.

So – he’s been using it for a couple of weeks. Would he recommend you wrap this and pop it under the tree for your own adolescent?

Erm… YES! (cue bored teen eyeroll with that ‘duh! inflection guaranteed to get him thwacked by the nearest adult)

So – whaddaya get?

Well, you pretty much get everything they want.

It’s a pay-as-you-go smartphone with apps, navigation, social-networking and multimedia.

And look carefully for yourself while you’re at it – this is a brilliant starter smartphone for anyone – not just the pre-pubescents; the Vodafone Smart holds your hand and walks you through it all in a rather stylish fashion. It’s Android operating system, so there’s over 250,000 apps available in Android Market™ – and many are free. Plus Android works seamlessly with everything Google, and the phone has the all-essential Facebook and Twitter built in.

The camera’s good, and there’s a microSD card slot so you can add up 32GB of extra space for your music, videos, photos.

So that’s the dull bit – want to see the bestie best bit? For £11 you can design your own COVER! Oh YES!

You just go here http://www.vodafonesmart-mydesign.com/designstudio and start fiddling.

Here’s mine (I SO did not spend 20 minutes playing with the addictive options before I created this. Nu-uh.)…

Battery life seemed good, the touch screen was responsive and instinctively simple to use, too.

Win win win. Thank you Vodafone – top phone!

The Vodafone Smart 858 comes in white or black, and is available from the Vodafone store for £70, but do shop around as better prices may be had elsewhere (*taps nose knowingly*).

Pre-Christmas Christmas Shopping – Maileg Pixie Advent Calendar

I don’t know about you, but personally I (and all my children) LOVE the fact that we have the same advent calendars which come out each year.

Sometimes in the pockets they find chocolates from the advent fairy, sometimes they find lego or playmobil. But whatever she brings them overnight, the finding and putting up of the calendars is one of our many Christmas traditions.

And of all the fillable advent calendars I’ve seen – these are my tip top favourites. I can imagine these lasting throughout your child’s advent days, and probably on to the grandchildren too.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous – definitely a family Christmas heirloom in the making.

Available from the unfailingly brilliant Armstrong Ward for £75
