Review – Mac & Ninny Bookplates from The Wise House
Bookplates. I love them. I always have done. As a child, opening up a book and seeing the official ‘This is MINE!’ sticker was always brilliant (maybe because I was the last of four, and very little actually was ‘mine’, most things were my sisters first…). So when The Wise House sent these Mac & ninny bookplates to review, I couldn’t resist them. They’re GORGEOUS! And much nicer than I...
Babies In The Cinema – do you?
Five years ago, I was desperate to see the new Harry Potter film. I had a 3mth old baby which I didn’t want to leave with a sitter, so the husband and I decided to take her too. And it was fine – she slept most of the way through, woke at a few of the loud bits, and on the whole it was fine. But I was under no illusions – had she made any noise, I would have had to leave, as this was an evening showing, and the...
*rant alert* My child ‘won’ a Young Writers competition and is going to be published
Today the 9yr old came out of school so full of proud he was steaming at the ears with it. As we walked to the car he couldn’t stop telling me all about it. Not ONLY had he won the school’s ‘Achievers Certificate’ for a ‘fabulous piece of descriptive writing’, but he had ALSO “won a competition with a poem I wrote a-a-a-ges ago and there is a letter in my book bag and it’s going to be in...
Spotted! Gorgeous slippers from Ruby & Ed

I love this piece of silly froth, and would adore wrapped sweetly around my chilly feet this winter.. The Lichen Posy Mules are £34 from the always-ruddy-marvellous Ruby & Ed’s site. Be warned...
When you’re having one of those days…
When you’re having a day like I’m having today, I’m thinking it might not be a bad idea to have one of these hanging somewhere highly visible. You never know what a little positive suggestion can do *eyes the rest of the day and waits expectantly for something good to show up…* The Expect A Miracle sign is available for £16.50 from the always delightful Jonny’s Sister.
Birthdays in the Biomes
Really loving this idea from the Eden Project – birthday parties in the Biomes! They look fab for all ages, too – for 3-5yrs there’s sessions based around music and dance or storytelling and veg planting. 5-8yr olds get a day full of magic and mystery awaits with either a pirates or a fairies theme. The children will be able to go on an adventure through the Biomes, collecting treasure along the way. The older 8-12yr...
