'Port Side Pirates' by Oscar SeaworthyWhat WE Say...‘Port Side Pirates’ is a Barefoot Books story with CD written by Oscar Seaworthy and illustrated by Debbie Harter. From the moment this book is plucked from the shelf and the CD starts playing you’ll be "Ah Harrrr"-ing me hearties all the way. It is a fun, energy packed, colourful, romp across the seven seas. The weaving of the story with the catchy, toe-tapping song (enthusiastically sung by Mark Collins) is clever and the picutes are just wonderful. We flicked back many times to see what the baby pirate was up to as the story progressed. We also adored the the stormy ocean waves as racing horses! My 5 year old boy is at the age when a book has got to have adventure, treasure, lots of technical detail and a smattering of good guys and bad guys. ‘Port Side Pirates’ is a book that meets with his approval and had him rather engrossed with the Pirate’s Galleon schematic and notes on famous pirates (including the girls!) from around the world.
