'I'm not Scary!' by Rod CampbellWhat WE Say...One of Campbell Books 'Touch-and-Feel' series, this new Rod Campbell is just great to explore. The scritchy-scratchy grasshopper is addictive to small fingers, the snail trail is fun to find, and the dashing-about dragonfly is oh so pretty. We do try to add noises to all our books, but this one is hard (grasshoppers and dragonfly's I can do, snails I can improvise, but the beetle defeated me). Plus, the surprise of the pop up spider at the end is so very good and so very popular that it didn't survive a week. Very very quickly it was wounded, fixed, wounded, fixed, wounded and then shredded and destroyed beyond repair - I would suggest keeping this one well out of reach and only reading together. It is lots of fun, and made Ella laugh out loud every time the spider jumped out at her (spiders say rrraaarr-r-r-r, by the way). But it is NOT built for toddler hands - and I have a strong feeling that some toddlers may well find the spider pretty scary after all, actually. Website: Buy from Amazon here |
