'Dogs' by Emily Gravett - What WE Say...Oh, I LOVE Emily Gravett books – every single one is a treat and a joy to read together. This latest is no exception - it is entirely responsible for the fact that 2 year old Ella now adores dogs. The text is an effortless and common theme of opposites – big dogs, small dogs, spotty dogs, stripy dogs… But as with all of EG’s books, the witty illustrations are quite simply perfect, and what sets the books apart. Every dog is alive and vibrant, and communicating perfectly with the smallest of readers (Naughty Dog gets a strong telling off, and Messy Dog has his hair repeatedly smoothed with plump little fingers). And the twist at the end still makes her laugh on the 100th reading. Simple, graceful, witty - and just plain wonderful. Website: Buy from Amazon here |
