'Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose' by Julia Donaldson

What WE Say...

Well, we all know you can't go wrong with Julia Donaldson. Teaming her up with Nick Sharratt the illustrator for Chocolate Mousse is just genius. More appealing to a younger audience than the Gruffalo et al, Nick Sharratt's wonderfully simple and expressive pictures tie in perfectly with the simple fun rhyming text ("Carrots - yuck!" says fussy Duck.)

Personally I prefer it when Daddy reads this one. He's better at the voices, you see, and unlike me he never gets them muddled up (woe betide me if Kangaroo happens to say Mole's line. And just what DOES happy Moth sound like when offering to eat the cloth???).

I have the paperback, which says it is extra thick for toddlers - personally I'd not leave this one with Ella unsupervised, and would get the board version for her own bookshelf, this one is just too good to tear.

The appeal is long lasting too - Joseph is 6, and loves to read this one to Ella. Even after she's got bored and wandered off he reads through to the end, chortling to himself, and finishing with a satisfying flourish.
