Yakult are giving away £1000 of crafting vouchers with their Every Day Inspiration Challenge!

To mark its 20th birthday in the UK, Yakult has launched an ‘Every Day Inspiration Challenge’ to encourage you to apply your creative talents, get crafting and find new and inventive uses for the iconic little Yakult bottles.

Yakult was founded by the scientist Dr Shirota, who in the 1930s selected and cultivated the unique Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain of bacteria. Today, every bottle of Yakult contains at least 6.5 billion of these Lactobacillus casei Shirota bacteria, scientifically proven to reach the gut alive.
Every day, more than 30 million bottles of Yakult are consumed in 33 countries around the world; Yakult is gluten free, fat free and suitable for vegetarians.

But what to do with all those bottles? Whether it’s creating Star Wars figurines, decorative items for the home, a mini skittles game or even placing the upturned bottles on the top of plant canes to act as eye-protectors, every year scores of Yakult drinkers come up with quirky ideas of how to productively use the little bottles once they’re empty.

How to… turn your empty Yakult bottles into a fun game of skittles.

With more than 30 million bottles of Yakult consumed every day around the world, how can you make the most out of your little bottle once you’ve finished drinking it?

From creating decorative fairy lights for your home, to making a mini-skittles game, your empty Yakult bottle can be transformed into pretty much anything, with a pinch of creativity and imagination!

So – store those little bottles this week and see what amazing creative use for them your brain can come up with. Head over www.yakult.co.uk/everyday, share your creation and see if you’ve got what it takes to win one of those fabulous prizes!

Here’s how to make your very own mini-skittles game using empty Yakult bottles:

What You Need:

  • Ten empty Yakult bottles
  • Play sand or other weighty material
  • Kitchen funnel (or make one with a cone of paper)
  • PVA glue
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Acrylic paints and paintbrushes
  • One ball

What You Do…

  1. Rinse out ten empty Yakult bottles.
  2. Using the top of the Yakult bottle as an outline, draw around it onto a piece of cardboard in order to produce ten bottle lids. Cut out the circular lids using a pair of scissors.
  3. Using your funnel, fill each Yakult bottle about one third full of sand, or other weighty material.
  4. Next, secure your cardboard lids onto the top of each Yakult bottle using PVA glue and leave to dry.
  5. Once dry, paint your skittles, adding numbers if you wish to allow the possibility of a scoring game.
  6. Now line them up, grab your ball and have fun!

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
