I know – this one had me squeaking too.

I’m not sure where we’d be without the Nintendo hand held systems. Waa-a-a-y back when almost-19-yr-old No.1 son was 5, his cousin passed on to him a Game Boy. One of the original ones, shaped like a bright yellow brick with no backlight on the screen – and with it came a copy of Pokémon Red. The following week we drove to Northumberland, and I swear he played that thing for the whole 7hr journey. The boy was in love – and it’s a love affair that’s never left him. We’ve had all the incarnations over the years, and all three subsequent children have been educated into the ways of the Nintendo handheld. They all still come out for long journeys, certain games are perennial sources of joy – and I noticed that my solo-travelling freelance-photographer of a No.1 son slipped his 3DS XL into his hand luggage when he headed off to the states for the summer.
I think it’s safe to say we’re quite the fans.
