Spotted! Oh, How I Want This Brambly Hedge Armchair

When I was growing up, Brambly Hedge was a cherished source of joy and comfort. I have loved the stories ever since (and am only sorry I utterly failed to persuade my boys of their special charm), and will occasionally on a wet afternoon pull a copy off the shelf to flick through and reacquaint myself with the perfect illustrations, the mice and their Summer adventures or Poppy’s babies.
Such perfect cosy domesticity – it’s chicken soup for the soul I tell you.
(and if you’ve not yet made their acquaintance, then I suggest you hotfoot it off to Amazon and buy yourself the Brambly Hedge Complete Collection forthwith).

So when I saw that beeyootiful Brambly Hedge armchair appear in my inbox from those beautifully bonkers furniture makers RhubarbLondon, I had to go and peek.
It’s a children’s chair, handmade to two-thirds sized version of an adult wing chair. And the more I looked, the more I wanted. Just as in the books, there’s so very much detail that further time spent exploring can only be rewarded.

0048 The Brambly Hedge Storyteller Chair

But wait – you’ve not heard the best bit yet. Because this is a true Storytelling chair – if you’r child isn’t reading or playing, then they can  listen to an audiobook via the self-contained, remotely controlled portable sound system through the stereo speakers colour coded and fitted to the back of the chair!

The front arms and legs of the chair have been intricately hand carved from ancient oak to create the mystical tree trunk world of Brambly Hedge with subtle illumination glowing through the delicate windows and front door. Aged Chestnut legs support the rear of the piece.

Lovingly upholstered in the traditional Brambly Hedge Field specially printed fabric and accentuated with nut brown leather piped detail.

Available direct from RhubarbLondon, proudly wearing RhubarbLondon’s unique numbered brass plaque to confirm its originality and authenticity, this chair will be available for delivery from 1st July 2017, at a cost of £3,500.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
