Oh I love love love the summer!

Long lazy days with no timetable; days starting with no alarm clock (except for exciting happenings which you never mind leaping out of bed for) blurping at ungodly-o’clock, and ending with bedtime far later than it ought to be, just because sometimes there’s just more important stuff to enjoy.

Sadly, though, there’s that panicky part of the back of your brain that knows it’s all temporary – it’s an aberration to the natural order of things. And sometime sooner than you want that alarm will start blooping, you’ll start wondering exactly what you DID do with the PE kit back in July, and realising that your son will actually have to start the new term in shorts even if it is raining as the shops have all sold out of trousers in the required combination of colour AND his size.

And of course you’ll try the old uniform out as it’ll be perfectly good enough… and then you’ll start regretting spending quite so much on ice cream when you realise they’ve actually grown a full inch and gone up two shoe sizes in the last couple of months…

Thankfully there are lovely people like those folks at BHS who stock a huge range of uniform, in all the colours and sizes anyone could need. No really – I defy anyone not to find a teen skirt that’s not only within school rules but also deemed acceptable by the teen herself inside their huge range of school uniform.

In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
