Lego Brickmaster Books. Woot. Woot.

That little lego brickmaster set there (books which have all the bricks you need to build the 30-odd models detailed inside) is fabulous. Really, honestly quite a stroke of genius. A book – AND lego. Genius. And you get BOTH books in one box for just £20. If you’re the proud owner of any kind of small lego fan, you’ll know JUST how good value that is. They do contain the all-important figures, most necessary for any...

Hauck’s Dream’n Play Travel Cot

On receiving the travel cot it was already on to a winner for just being block colour in design and not having any generic disney images of winnie the pooh or a rubbish picture of a giraffe on it! Score! Why must all baby equipment have ‘stuff’ scrawled on it? Bleurgh! The pale pastel colours are sweet, although plane black would be perfection too be honest or even single primary colours. Now, in terms of putting the thing...

Filofax – retro, but still good?

I was thrilled to receive this beast of a filofax to review;  I haven’t used a filofax since I was 18, at university, and Princess Di was wearing her blue blazers and faded jeans.  I honestly thought the brand had been really locked into the 80s and felt it no longer held any relevance to me. Philips Wake up Light. Buy One. That is all.

As regular readers will know, my eldest son has had M.E. for two years, and mornings are NOT his best time. Never a morning bird, even as a small child he liked a lie in. So couple his natural tendency with the slow-starting body that comes with M.E. and he’s on to a total non-starter, if I’m honest. On a bad day, he’ll simply lie in bed, unable to even contemplate the effort involved in lifting the duvet and placing...

Book review: Jack Frost by Kazuno Kohara

I honestly didn’t think Pink would enjoy this. It was too… odd. Angular. Frosty, actually.  Not at all the soft, gorgeous imagery she usually chooses. Shows what I know. This book comes out again and again. Happily. Because I love it as much as Pink does. The simply paper cut style illustration is beautiful, and far more evocative than I expected. Perfect, in fact, in a story of a world caught in the depths of icy winter....

Magic shoes for happy feet?

Really? Well… yes. I think my daughter feels that these magic little slippers most certainly make her feet happy. In fact, when I asked her, she considered it very carefully, head on one side, lips pursed, and replied “yes, my toes are DEFINTALLY happy when I have pink daisies on”. So – there you have it. And what’s not happy-making from a company who has design categories called Kiss Me Quick, Roses and...
