A Perfect White Skirt For Summer – clothes for tall women from Long Tall Sally

Your perfect longer-length maxi skirt. Currently £50 from Long Tall Sally.

A summer essential. First, and most important consideration when wearing any white skirt is to avoid that Jennifer A / Lady Di moment… is it lined? Thankfully, this one is lined with a nice soft cotton, so there’s not too many see-right-through-it incidents, and the day I forgot I was wearing purple knickers when I changed into this skirt the underwear went thankfully unnoticed by the public at large.

The length is, if anything, a bit TOO long. Can ou tall readers believe I said that? I hear your cheers. But the over-length is down to my under-proportioned legs in action. It skims the ground whilst I walk, which is fine and pretty, but not very practical when on holiday with four children. So I simply tended to wear it high, a la Simon Cowell – and one oh-so-hot evening I created a lovely dress by hoiking it right over my boobs and removing my top altogether. The husband complimented me on my new dress.
The sizing is generous – I could have done with dropping a size, to be honest (yay me!), so if you’re  a borderline size I’d suggest you went one lower, as the elasticated waist is generous.

It’s been washed and worn relentlessly, and is still looking oh so pure and summery. Dress it up or down, it’s equally at home on the beach as it is in a tiny little French Restaurant in the Touraine. Definitely a must-pack in my suitcase, I’ll be wearing this skirt till I’m sick of it. Which won’t actually happen. Ever.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
