Fabulous Retro Swimsuit for tall women from LTS

I’m not very demanding where swimsuits are concerned.

I have an innate horror of a two-piece (way too many curves to reveal, thank you), but I do need a one-piece that’s long enough for my 6ft frame, that won’t make me look like the back end of a bus (no mean feat). It needs to be secure enough to withstand swimming races and deep-end dives with the competitive teens, but be minimal enough for some sunning beside the pool too.

See? I don’t want much…

That's me. Swimming. Cool, no? Got to love the GoPro...

That’s me. Swimming. Cool, no? Just see how flattering that Chevron pattern is (also – got to love the GoPro for underwater holiday shots!)

The toughest one  to solve is always the length – let’s face it, no one wants to see a generously proportioned woman in a too-small swimsuit. No no no.

So I usually start with my reliable sources of longer length options, and narrow them down according to style, just hoping something will work.

But my first port of call is always Long Tall Sally, and when I saw the fabulous Chevron Stripe Swimsuit, I called off the search.

No worries boys, come on home. The swimwear had been found.

And it’s fabulous.

Obviously being on LTS it’s a longer length body which is the first tick on the box – there’s good, generous coverage to well above the bust with no tugging or stretching or cutting one’s more sensitive areas in half to make it reach. In that seriously flattering chevron design, the legline is a great height – flattering without being revealing – and there’s good support for an ample body shape in the bust and tummy control panels. plus that removable halter strap is wide enough to make it actually useful – and makes it safe for jumping in the deep end (do make sure it’s tied securely though… *cough*) – but means strapless sun bathing is a cinch too.

My only issue is possibly down to my own body shape – four babies and a caesarean have not been kind to my front bumper, and I found that whilst the tummy control lining held all manner of wobbly things firmly and flatteringly, the chevron-patterned top layer wasn’t quite so snugly fitted, causing some bagginess in the chevron pattern in the bottom of the front panel.

That small issue aside – and it really didn’t bother me overly much – it’s a fabulous swimsuit. And you feel like a 50’s Hollywood starlet when you’re lounging by the pool in it…

The Chevron Stripe Swimsuit is available from Long Tall Sally in sizes 10-22 for £40.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
