The day my Pretty Pregnant maternity jeans arrived in the post I was so excited. I was only 10 weeks pregnant at the time but already finding that I could no longer fit into my regular jeans, yet my bump was way too small to fit into anything vaguely resembling maternity wear. Why, oh why, do most maternity clothes manufacturers seem to think that when a size 10/12 woman becomes pregnant, her bum and thighs immediately triple in size???

So I eagerly rushed upstairs to try on my new jeans and ended up dancing round the bedroom in delight! The first thing I noticed was that they actually looked trendy. Skinny fit, with an under the bump style but also a stretchy panel of material to go over the bump. I’d never seen this style of maternity jeans before, only the huge elasticated type ones, and had thus been swiftly put off maternity jeans for life! Or so I thought.

When I yanked the jeans on I found they fitted perfectly, as a friend commented to me yesterday “almost as though they were made for you”. The under the bump bit sat perfectly under my (tiny) bump, and although the material panel was as yet too big for me I found it was perfectly comfortable rolled down around my hips.

Off I ran to excitedly email Laura, and put the jeans away in my wardrobe. A couple of days later I found some jeans in my wardrobe that still fit me and wore them for a few more weeks until 2 weeks ago when I finally had to concede defeat. Then I remembered my Pretty Pregnant jeans and dug them out of the wardrobe again, wondering why I had ever put them away.

At 18 weeks they now fit much better around the stretchy ‘bump’ bit, and when I put them on again I was reminded how comfy and trendy they are – maternity and trendy were not two words I ever thought I’d see in the same sentence! I have the stretchy bit folded in half at the moment which is amazingly comfortable, and whilst showing them off to a friend yesterday my fantastic jeans got even better as I realised there was a hidden adjustable elastic bit with button at each side. They now fit even better (yes, yes I blame the silly pregnant brain too) and I really am in love with these jeans! They look great with Ugg boots and a thick woolly winter jumper, but will look equally as good in the summer with ballerina pumps and a tunic style top.

For years I have hated maternity clothes with a passion but now I have these jeans that will go with literally anything, I’m actually looking forward to doing some more clothes shopping. Before I’d tried them out I baulked at the price tag and was sceptical that any jeans could live up to that amount of money. Now I’ve tried them I’d happily pay the full price. If you only buy one expensive essential item of maternity clothing, I’d say these jeans are worth every penny.
