This train comes in a natural-looking cardboard box, rather than the kind of garish, multi-coloured box toys usually come in and, even better, there were none of the plastic/metal ties that usually hold toys into the box (and make them a nightmare to get out!). When I opened the box, the wooden train simply slid out and both me and Harry went "Ooooooh!"

Solid and smooth and incredibly tactile, it looks and feels beautiful. The pieces all come apart and the cubes are printed with different patterns. My 3-month-old loves to hold the blocks. Harry, 4, likes to take it apart and put it back together. I think it's smart enough to keep out on display. It's not cheap, but I'd say it's worth every penny. It would make a great gift too.
