Spotted! Knitted Drawing Stuff Bag

Knitted Drawing Stuff Bag

Knitted Drawing Stuff Bag by Sally Nencini - Sisters Guild - £28.00

My five year old son always has some kind of vessel with his essential drawing and colouring stuff to hand, in fact, come to think of it, he has several, dotted all around the house – coloured pencils, felt tips, blobs of sticky tack and lots of little note pads and wads of Important Papers. Whether it’s an old shoebox or a canvas shopping tote or the cute little gift box he swiped from under my nose on my birthday.

He would LOVE this knitted drawing stuff bag so very much – who wouldn’t? It includes the matching coloured pencils too!

Sling it over your shoulder or across your body and off you go, ready to face whatever colouring and drawing inspirations await you. Wonderful!

Spotted! Really Useful Lockable First Aid & Medicine Storage

Many moons ago a friend told me a story about why she now keeps all medicines in the house under lock and key. All medicines were kept in an unlocked box on the top shelf of a high cupboard in her kitchen. She thought they were safe enough, she assumed her children hadn’t even clocked that they were kept there.

One morning, she came downstairs after having been upstairs for a short while (putting laundry away or some such menial chore) while her two children were playing in the living room. She walked into the kitchen to pop the kettle on and discovered a chair pushed up against the kitchen counter and the contents of the medicine box spread out over the kitchen side, including an open box of ibuprofen tablets with some missing. Gulp. She could not remember how many were in the packet when she last took some out. There followed a frantic-but-trying-to-keep-voice-calm conversation with her five year old to figure out what happened and whether any medicines were consumed. Turns out the three year old had a sore finger and the five year old was looking for a plaster and some medicine to make it better. My friend could not figure out if any of the tablets had been taken so it all ended with a trip to A&E, observation and two children who were absolutely fine in the end. Phew.

Ever since hearing this story I’ve been on the look out for a lockable medicine box and have discovered these….

Is it wrong to really have snorted at these?

Like most of Twisted Twee’s items, they’re quirky, foolish – and a lot of fun.

Naturally of the best quality Egyptian Cotton, though.

And this one made my boys snigger too…

Mother’s Day Gifts – Pretty Little Glass ‘Mum’ Key Ring

Back in the dim and distant past i used to collect key rings. I had a large chain in my bedroom, and I used to clip them on – I think I had over 250 at one point.

Sadly, I no longer proudly display 250-odd dangly things to decorate my bunch of keys – but it did leave me with a  deep-seated affection for a pretty keyring.

Nothing bold and brash and obvious, but there’s always room for a little ‘pretty’ on your bunch of keys.

And when I saw this on the Born Gifted site, I did a little “oooh! That’s Nice!”.

And at under £15, it’s a pretty attainable Mother’s Day Gift, too.

( The SparrowPrimitive Art Dolls reference items made by American pioneer women who used scraps from clothing, quilts or even feedsacks to make something for their children to play with. Items would be created from whatever came to hand in order to adorn the home and nothing was wasted – this has developed into an art form of its own as people have realised that they add warmth and charm to the modern home.)

Handmade Cat & Mouse Primitive Art Dolls Louie & Pete is a whisker under £17 from Sparrow Primitives.
