Pretty in pink: the most stylish colour for girls this winter

When you think of a winter wardrobe, you probably see deep reds, rich greens and warm browns – the type of seasonal colours that usually crop up in shops when the temperatures drop and Christmas approaches. This year however, pink is big news for autumn and winter – in fact a lovely muted shade of pink called Dusty Cedar was one of this season’s hot colours chosen by Pantone Color Institute’s fashion colour report. And after all, nobody knows colour like Pantone.

When you’re out shopping for winter clothes, whether that’s chunky knitwear, cosy coats or wooly hats and scarves, expect to see lots of lovely shades of pink available alongside the usual winter favourites. Baby pink, shocking pick, fuchsia, dusty pink, cerise, coral pink, raspberry, bubblegum, magenta and salmon – the choice really is endless. No matter which one takes for fancy, there’s certain to be a pink that you, and your little girl, just fall in love with.

Pink is obviously a firm favourite for young girls already – just look Harper Beckham, the daughter of David and Victoria Beckham. The young fashionista is often snapped wearing stylish pink dresses and, when your mum is one of the biggest style icons on the planet, who are we to argue? With pink looking set to lead the way this season, you know the colour will be flying off the shelves at an even greater rate than normal.

If you’re thinking about how to inject a little more pink into your girls’ wardrobe this winter, a great place to start is with the range of girls coats from Tu. A pink coat will brighten up an otherwise neutral outfit and there are plenty to choose from, whether you’re keen to go all out with bright fuchsias or play things down with dusky rose shades.

The pink faux fur coat is available for ages from nine months to five years. It comes in a beautiful, barely-there pink and is a great way to make a subtle nod to the trend. With a padded lining and practical popper fastenings, your little one will always be kept toasty warm.

Another option in the Tu range is the pink parka, which is available for ages from three to 12 years old. This classic coat has a faux fur trim on the hood and an adjustable waist for extra comfort. Tu’s puffer jacket for girls also comes in a nice pink shade, with a pretty bow detail that younger girls are sure to love.

For something with a little bit of added fun, there is also a reversible gilet. One side is navy and the other is a bright shade of pink with a skiing teddy bear motif. The hood makes the gilet extra practical for autumn and winter days out, while the bold patterns are always sure to make a statement.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
