The Very Best Sheepskin Mule Slippers. Fact.

It’s that time of year again – the time of year when the hunt for the very best sheepskin mule slippers begins again.

I’m not ashamed to say I’m a bit of a slipper freak. I don’t know if it’s a simple fact of getting older (and colder), or if I was just a late developer (in my youth I detested them; spent my time barefoot, only opting for socks on cold toes if absolutely necessary)
But now I flippin’ love my slippers.
I’ve been known to take them on holiday. SUMMER holiday.
And once summer’s over, the chill sets in the air, and there is simply nothing better than sliding your tired feet into a soft, warm, comforting hug of a slipper.

Look – tell me you don’t want to slip your feet into this right now

But you can’t. Because they’re mine, and my feet are already filling them. So ner.

When Just Sheepskin asked if I’d like to try a pair of their slippers, I naturally hesitated for a full 10th of a nanosecond before saying yes.
I mean – come on.
Have you seen their slippers?

If you’re a slipper-freak like me then you must go look. Doesn’t matter of you’re a muler (me), a ballet-er (also me sometimes) a boot-er (never me!) or something else entirely. Just Sheepskin have you covered. Literally. Covered in the softest, warmest, prettiest slipper-wear you’re likely to come across.

I’ve been wearing some old sheepskin ballet slippers for the last couple of years. But they’ve got to that stage where they look like broad beans on your feet, the stitching is starting to leak innards, and the leather sole is slippy and shiny and treacherous on any smooth-ish surface (most of my floors are laminate or tole).

These particular beauties are the Harris Tweed version of the Ladies Duchess Sheepskin Slipper, made using the thickest, most luxury Sheepskin and featuring a Durable Textured Slip Resistant Sole.

The whole to-sole-or-not-to-sole question is a biggie, isn’t it?

You want a sole on for nipping out the backdoor, and for general pottering. But what about when you want to curl up in front of the tv? All of a sudden that hard sole is a bit in the way.

But I’ve gone with it this time – and I’m loving it. After all – on long cold evenings we’re in front of the woodburner. Slippers are a bit unnecessary in the heatwave washing over us. Get up to make a cup of tea, though, and these babies are sitting ready and waiting for me.
Perfect.

When they arrived, I admit I thought I’d got the wrong size. Even in bare feet ( yes, yes, I’m still a barefoot aficionado, some things never change) I had to wriggle and squoosh to get my feet into the thickness of the sheepskin. But they did just keep on going… And it soon became clear they were the right size. It was simply that a few days wear was required to flatten the sheepskin fluffiness to such an extent that my feet were a little roomy in there.
Oh, of all the heavenly work problems I’ve had to suffer…

That fluffy muffler on the top of the slipper is the same all the way through the inside, top and bottom. And just in case that’s not comfort enough for you, underfoot there’s gel infused memory foam.

Actually, these slippers should come with a warning. My feet may refuse to ever come out and wear anything else at all. I walked the dog earlier, and as I slipped the wellies on I distinctly felt the disgusted shockwave in my brain. All the way from my toes. What the hell did I call THIS, it is most certainly not the treatment they have become accustomed too.

And if that fabulous Harris Tweed isn’t your thing, then don’t fret – the Duchess is available in a range of colours, all priced at £55. You should go look. The slippers your feet have been longing for are sitting waiting for you.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
