Lego Dimensions game is coming… *excited face*

I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, but there was no way lego were going to miss out on the new genre of ‘toys to life’ games started with Skylanders (and joined rapidly by Disney with their Infinity game, and Nintendo’s Amiibo). Actually I love the concept – the joining of a physical toy interactively into a pretty traditional video game is a genius one – blurring the lines between the two. It’s exactly how kids play their video games, blurring between the digital and the ‘real’, and I love that the physical toys enable that.
The Lego Dimensions game will work just the same way – place special Lego Minifigures and bricks on a portal, and the player will be able to add their figures into their on-screen game.

Best of all, Lego have worked with various studios to make sure they can incorporate figures and gameplay from across its range of games; DC Super Heroes, Lord of the Rings and The Lego Movie.

Perfectly timed for Christmas, Lego Dimensions is set for release on 27 September on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. The ‘Starter Pack’ game will have toys, bricks and a Lego Batmobile.

“Lego Dimensions not only offers a bridge between digital and physical Lego play, but also introduces a digital system of play with great long-term value for Lego gaming. One Lego Toy Pad, Lego Gateway and the videogame found in the initial Starter Pack will offer endless opportunities to customise a player’s experience for years to come,” Lego said. “Future expansion pack purchases will continue to work with the Starter Pack, even in the fall of next year.”

Oh Lego, you geniuses. We love you.

I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
