Beautiful Dresses – Win £100 Gift Card for BHS

Okay, hands up who has a wedding to go to this year?

Yes, us too!

To be honest, they’re always a bit of a topic in this house, being married to a wedding photographer, but we were just chatting last week about our own wedding a few (*cough* twenty) years ago. Back in the early 90’s you had two choices really – you either had the dresses made, or you got the bridesmaid dresses from the bridal shop along with your own wedding dress. And they were all very very bridesmaidy, if you know what I mean.

I LOVE this navy chloe dress. I know it’s a bridesmaid dress, but it’s also really versatile, and would be delicious for loads of occasions. I’d wear it to a wedding myself (as long as the bridesmaids weren’t in navy…)

Now though, the options are so much wider for any bride. First of all, the fashions have totally changed – it’s no longer deemed necessary for the bridesmaids to be in floor-length gown type numbers. Nor is it even necessary for them all to wear identical outfits.
I love the weddings that have gone with a basic colour theme, but the bridesmaids all select a style of dresses that suits their own figure; let’s face it, all bridesmaids are not created equal. I myself had two friends as bridesmaids walking down the aisle together – one was 6′ tall, the other 5’2″. Trying to find a dress that worked for them both was a total nightmare!

So when my niece announced her wedding this summer we were properly thrilled – and even more so when they asked our 8yr old to be bridesmaid.
They’re a young couple, on a tight budget, so we of course have offered to buy the dress for her ourselves – that way we help with the wedding costs, and can also choose a dress we know she’ll get some wear out of.

All we’ve got to work to is a colour theme; knowing we’re on the look out for blue bridesmaid dresses I have started to scour the wedding departments and boutiques (any excuse…). Naturally, then, I was properly pleased when BHS got in touch to say that they have a new Wedding department, and would I like to take a look?

I know I need to find a blue one… but I’m thinking I might ask her to reconsider her colour scheme. Isn’t this lemon corsage dress adorable? And it’s only £30!

And those lovely folks at BHS wondered if you might like to win a £100 gift card?
I assured them you probably would…

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
