Win a subscription to ‘YOU VS THE WORLD’… plus an iPad mini!

New computer game You vs the World allows parents to teach their children how to face life’s challenges; from alcohol and drugs to bullying and health issues, through a series of fun games, and here at Little Stuff, we’re giving one lucky parent the chance to win the game, with an iPad Mini to play it on!

You vs. The World, priced just £4.99, offers a complete parent and child package, whereby the parent has access to a dashboard to set up and monitor the games, whilst the child can have fun playing them.

You Vs The World

With comic book graphics and fun characters, the game encourages children to think strategically and make positive choices, shaping their views on health and wellbeing.

The game’s creator, Aaron Gibson comments, “All parents worry about the dangers their children will face in the big bad world, and naturally want to protect them, so it’s essential kids are fully equipped with the knowledge they need. You vs. The World is a new game-based way of teaching important lessons to help them navigate the challenges of growing up, whilst also having fun playing the games.  Using a simple traffic light system, the parent can set the parameters of the game, selecting age-appropriate material, and monitor their child’s progress. This provides peace of mind about their child’s awareness of these issues, and also creates a forum for discussions about specific challenges as they arise.”

Designed with input from psychologists and teachers, the game is aimed at children aged ten and upwards, with the questions tailored for age groups 10 to12, 13 to 15 and 16 to18 which can be selected to suit.

To be in with a chance to win not only a subscription to You Vs The World, but also a nifty iPad mini to play it on, please answer the first three questions in the Rafflecopter box below. You will then be able to generate more entries by completing the other, optional, entry methods. The closing date for this competition is 4th April 2014 and only entries received on or before that date can be included. The 1st prize winner will be the first randomly selected entry.  Good luck!

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.

  42. Worries :- Quality of life. Previous generations used to say they wished Health, Wealth and Happiness for their children. They have life, I would love it most if they enjoyed that life. There seems to be so much pressure, competition, greed, self-centredness and selfishness. Yet the authorities advertised that everyone should reach their potential. For that to happen there needs to be Opportunities available to all. Rather than the wide gap between rich and poor.

There seems to be a great amount of sadness, concern / anxiety and ill health. This may be due to the lack of Opportunities. The amount of pressure, Competition etc. There is little sense of Community or cohesiveness. Maybe we need to accept people for who and what we are, as it takes all types and a variety of skills etc to build a Community.

  58. The biggest worry for me with my children’s future is being safe from crime when they’re out alone or with friends. We live in a society where people think that you don’t need to work to earn the nice things in life, you just take them from others. It’s a difficult situation, you want your child to have a mobile phone with them so they can contact you in an emergency or in case of an accident, but by them having one it makes them vulnerable. A child walking alone is an easy target to a gang and I know personally of a teenager who has had two mobile phones stolen from him while out with his friends. Luckily he was unharmed. Internet, alcohol, drugs, sex, you can educate your child about all of those things and keep a watchful eye on them and guide them if they start to go down a wrong route, but you can’t be in control of crime. It happens, unfortunately, and I just hope that it never happens to my children.

Bullying, underage sex, alcohol, drugs, peer pressure, violence, crime, dirty old men etc etc…..but I turned out all right. Worrying constantly gave my mum grey hair but we survived. As much as I would love to cotton wool my kids I know they have to experience the world. I have to teach them that as long as they are vigilant, respectful, trustworthy and honest they should be ok. Now my mum didn’t have to worry about the internet, mobile phones, facebook, twitter and instagram but allowing my kids to use them and showing them how to use them safely is better than forbidding them…we all know what happens when you tell your kids they can’t do something lol :)

My Grandad always springs to mind with one of his favourite sayings ..it’s better to be an optimist rather than a pessimist, it may not change the outcome but you will feel better about it! The primary niggle that will not go away is housing affordability in towns and villages where children are growing up they will be totally priced out of the market to buy a house. Your looking at 8x average salary to get on the property ladder now ????

  416. I’m not too ocncerned over internet security and social media the children have been well versed in safety. They will find their own way in life (with our support) so I’m not concerned abut the future, I’m more concerned about how they cope until their mid twenties with the ever rising pressure they are put under, pressure to conform, pressure to acheive exam results, pressure to hit targets at school, it’s endless pressure these days and no real time left to still be a child.

The 13 and 12 year old’s are just finding their independence and I worry about them going out with their friends for long periods but it is easier these days with mobile phones. My eldest is 22 with kids of her own but I worry that her and her partner will never find a job.
