Simon’s Cat!

advertorial

Simon’s Cat is a cheeky character who started his life online thanks to British creator Simon Tofield. The popular white cat became a huge hit in his very own YouTube videos and brand new stories are released regularly. Since 2008 when the first YouTube video ’Cat Man Do’ was released, it has gained over 40 million hits and has since spread the cats ventures into book form, comic strips and now a number of fantastic merchandise items.

The great thing about Simon’s Cat is that he appeals to both adults and children too. With the combination of cute cartoon drawings and funny story lines, these short videos will be especially appealing to those who have cats too! The animations have always been in black and white and it takes Simon between 12 to 25 drawings to create 1 second of film, so a lot of hard work has certainly gone into making each of the different videos. Simon took inspiration from his own four cats’ (named Jess, Maisy, Hugh and Teddy) to make the series, with Hugh being the primary source for his ideas.

The simple black and white theme continues throughout each item of Simons Cat merchandise, adding in the trademark red that makes the brand instantly recognisable. The collection of products you can get ranges from travel mugs to soft toys and car air fresheners to shopping bags and much more. For parents who have introduced the fun online sketches to their kids the Simons Cat mugs will certainly be a great item for them to have. The mugs are insulated so perfect for keeping a hot drink in and work just as well with something cold. The secure lid means it would be the perfect option for taking on car journeys and reduce any spillages.

Simons drawing of the cat and other characters look so simple, yet are so expressive and work well on the merchandise. The latest video hit You Tube last week and is called ‘Feed me!’ so if you haven’t seen one of the sketches yet, check it out and you will soon fall for the cat with no name!

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
