Flowers. Because sometimes you dont need a reason.
When Interflora asked if we’d write about their flowers, naturally I happily agreed – who doesn’t love fresh flowers?
But this time – they were not for me. My Mother In Law has been very ill this summer, and is still only very slowly recuperating – and as anyone knows, a protarcted illness just leaves you feeling pretty glum.
So I scoured Interflora’s site, hoping I’d maybe find something she’d like. Now, I’ll be honest. I haven’t used Interflora for YEARS. Not since I got married, moved 200 miles away from home, and found it was cheaper to call the florist round the corner to my mum I’d been using for years and order something over the phone.
What? Well, it was!
But more fool me.
Because it’s actually not, any more.
PLUS – when you order online you get to CHOOSE. you know exactly what your gift will look like. Instead of vague “something pastelly, she likes chrysanths, no purple please” I got to pore over pages, and choose something I knew she would really truly love. Her favourite summer gentle colours, scented blooms, and presented in a basket so there was no need for her to DO anything with them.
Did she like them?
She cried. And cherished them for weeks.
And yes, thank you, after a summer of enforced rest and relaxation she is feeling MUCH better.

We’ve both been away the last couple of weeks (did you miss us? Huh? HUH?), so it was a le-e-etle bit exciting to get home at the weekend to find we’d been nominated for a Gurgle award (*runs around flapping hands in excited fashion*)! Thank you, to whoever nominated us, we’re suitably humbly grateful.
Using public nominations, the judging panel met and selected their favourite five blogs in each category – we’re finalists in the Best Working Mummy Blog category. The voting is now open: it literally takes less than a minute, and casting your vote (not just for us, there are fab finalists in all the categories) will really help.
We promise not to bang on too much, but this is a mahoosively HUGE gurt big deal for us, and we would be oh-so-very grateful if you could wander over to place a little tick in a box and vote for us? Please?
The voting process closes at 12pm on Wednesday 7th September, and the awards ceremony is taking place on the evening of Thursday 8th September.

I love Michal Negrin jewellery (have you SEEN his website? here – http://www.michalnegrin.com/. Quirky, vintage-inspired floral gloriousness), and I was instantly in love when I saw this on Not On The High Street in Violettes shop.
So pretty, so dainty, so LOVELY.
